A few things to keep in mind when shooting with your phone:
Most phone cameras has an average focal length about 24-28mm, some even wider. While it can be useful in some scenarios, generally we do not recommend wide angle lenses for product photography / video, since these lenses provide a lot of perspective distortion:

When doing product photography in the studio, we use the range of 85-200mm lenses, since these provide more parallel, straight lines. On the phone, similar can be achieved by shooting in 2x or 3x portrait mode, which provides effective focal length about 50-85mm. Please note that the higher the focal length, the further you need to be from the object.
Ideally you want to shoot 4K to be able to crop/zoom in post production. Most cameras now deliver good 4K quality, however in some cases 1080p may work better due to better bit rate. You need to disable as much as possible in camera processing algorithms, such as sharpening, oversaturating colors and beautifying filters. Generally, portrait modes on most phone cameras deliver more natural pictures, while landscape modes tend to over sharpen and oversaturate colors.
Although most modern phones have built in stabilization, it's never a bad idea to use a tripod. It will also help you to slow down and better plan your shot. If you plan to move / walk with a camera, we highly recommend osmo mobile or analog to achieve smooth motion.
In most cases the footage you will get from camera will likely be overprocessed, oversharpened and oversaturated by internal phone software. It also may have blown highlights and crashed dark shadows, and most likely - low bitrate which will result in compression artifacts. There are apps that help to avoid that. We recommend Filmic Pro as it's available both for android and IOS and provides a number of useful features:

It's possible to edit the videos entirely on your phone. We recommend using InShot for its range of features and reasonable price.
